Enhancing Education Program (Classroom grants)

 

The Enhancing Education Program annually awards grants up to $250. Funds are awarded to teachers for use within the classroom to purchase items or supplies that will directly impact the learning experience for a majority of students. Past award recipients utilized funds to purchase equipment, software, books, DVDs, and teaching materials.

 

The 2019-2020 grants were awarded for use in the following classes:

 

Judy Yen (Psychology) – supplies for biology unit in AP Psychology

Samantha Kuchwara (Language Arts) – Breakout Kits, similar to an educational escape room

Steven Picht (Spanish) – a set of the Francisco Jimenez novel “Mas alla de mi”

Joy Millam (Library) – Chromebook

Irene Kapetanos (Special Education World History) – world history supplements and reading material

Mike Guest (Business/Tech/CCR) – keyboard covers

Alicia Jacinto (Spanish) – a half year subscription to Scholastic Classroom Magazine “Que Tal?” for Spanish 1 students
Brady Bilhartz (Chemistry) –
a set of scientific calculators

Kara Gerry/Sarah Belsey/Hannah Young (Special Education) – items needed to help students become more independent and reach their IEP goals

Eligibility Criteria and Program Information

  • All teacher applicants must be current PTSA members.
  • Application deadline is TBD.
  • Classroom awards up to $250 per recipient; the total number of awards will be dependent upon available funding.
  • Recipients will be asked to provide a brief statement on how you were able to implement the enhancements with your students.
  • Prior recipients - If you applied and received an enhancement grant in 2019-2020, we respectfully request that you recuse yourself this year to give others the opportunity to benefit from this program. For those who received awards in 2018-2019, you are invited to apply in the current round.
