Summer School 2023 Information and Directory/Información de Escuela de Verano
Welcome Back to the 2023-24 school year Tigers!!

Looking forward to my 19th year at Valencia High and my 22 years in Education! I am assigned to letters A-F this year, of your students’ last name, and continue to serve our ELD students (English Language Development) letters A-Z here at VHS. I am also the facilitator for our English Language Advisory Council (ELAC) and I am the Career Guidance Specialist for ROP (Regional Occupational Program) at Valencia where this year, our emphasis is on Principles of Teaching / Child Development, Culinary Arts, Photography and our BITA (Building Industries and Tech Academy). If you or your student have questions about ROP classes on our campus or off-site class offerings, please contact me. Info is also on our website.

First to graduate high school in my family, I earned a full ride to the University of California, Riverside and pursued a B.A. degree in psychology, and graduated in 2000.  While in college, I worked with the Moreno Valley Unified School District as a substitute teacher, and with the Early Academic Outreach, University program.  My passion to guide, mentor and educate students about higher learning became my focal point.  I am happy to say this is my 22nd year working in the profession as high school counselor.

Soon after graduating UC Riverside, I began my graduate program in School Counseling and earned my Master's degree through the University of La Verne in '03.  I also interned as a school counselor at my old alma mater high school (Valley View), "GO EAGLES", and was supervised by my old high school counselor (she was actually very young, and I looked up to her), and my internship was a very unique experience!  She did inspire me through the years to become a guidance counselor!

I am happily married, and we have an 12 year old son who loves the outdoors.  Parenthood has been challenging but it is surely a blessing and I am very happy for the family that I have; including our tight knit Valencia family!  Hobbies have included things like riding horses, dancing (Ballet Folklorico), traveling, hiking, going to the beach, watching movies (Favorites:  Goonies, Sandlot, NeverEnding Story (a.k.a.-classics, and comedy), being Disneybound, and trying different ethnic foods, but remaining loyal to my Mexican antojitos and of course, spending quality time with my family and two fluffy corgis.  As a first-generation Latina college student, I cherish the importance of an education, and I aim to guide students to become successful individuals, and pursue their life-long goals.  Si Se Puede!!  (You Can Do It!!)
