Drawing & Painting, Advanced Drawing & Painting and AP 2D Art & Design (Period 2)

Course Description

Drawing & Painting and Advanced Drawing & Painting:This is a combination class where the students are encouraged to think outside the box and create original works of art based on their interests, but to also stretch themselves in ideas, medium and/or size. They are encouraged to work in different mediums, grounds and tools. When returning to in person classes they are welcome to bring in any non-toxic medium to work in. While on distance learning they are welcome to work in other mediums such as oil paint upon parents approval.
AP 2D Art & Design: This is a college level class with expectations of roughly 3 -4 completed pieces per month. The students will be guided through a process of choosing a direction of research and practice. They will then respond to that research through their art work by using various mediums, techniques and styles, and then in writing. In March and April art works and writings will be finalized. In May the completed pieces and writings will be submitted to the AP college board. Submission is optional. The expectations of art work and written work are the same whether they submit a portfolio or not. Portfolio submission decision is made in mid October typically.
