We encourage at least one parent of each Valencia student to become a member of the PTSA. This is a great opportunity to remain active in your teenager’s school life, but in an indirect way. PTSA simply stands for Parent/Teacher/Student Association.

 

You can become a silent member of the PTSA, which means that you support the group with your membership fee and/or donation. A portion of the membership fee is sent to the state and national PTA organizations to finance parenting resources, educational efforts for students and teachers, on-line resources, and scholarships created for students, teachers and school nurses. These examples are just some of the many functions of the PTA. (Log onto the PTA website at www.capta.org if you would like to find out more about the PTA.) The remaining portion of the membership fee is used to finance on-campus activities such as Red and Yellow Ribbon Week, Teacher Appreciation events, student and teacher scholarships and awards, and the PTSA newsletter.

 

You can also choose to become an active member of the PTSA by attending the monthly PTSA meetings. This will lead to an increased awareness of on-campus programs, activities and events, as well as other information provided by our teacher or student representatives.

 

There are also opportunities for you to donate foods items and/or volunteer at our teacher appreciation events throughout the year.

 

Senior students must be members of our PTSA in order to be eligible to apply for the annual scholarships awarded by the VHS PTSA.
