Due (Date to be determined) Machiavelli worksheet: You are to read the text, answer the questions, and turn it in on the due date.  Be prepared for class discussion.  
 
ALL Notebook Handouts are to be printed at 100% - NO SHRINKING of documents is acceptable because it will render them unreadable and make them useless as intended review material.  No credit will be given for handouts that have been reduced in size.
 
Due Monday, September 13th: Print-out and bring the Unit I ID List to class.
 
Due Wednesday, September 15th:  Print-out, read, and bring to class the "Redesign Renaissance Primary Source" packet.
 
Due Thursday, September 16th:  Print-out and bring to class the Seven Steps to Essay Writing packet .
 
Due Friday, September 17th:  Write an introductory (thesis) paragraph for the following prompt:            
        "Explain the ways in which Italian Renaissance Humanism transformed ideas about the individual's role in society."
 
Due Monday, September 20th: Read the "Women in the Renaissance" by Dale Kent and prepare for a quiz on this day.  To prepare for the quiz, focus on the following:  1)  What were the laws/customs concerning women and inheritance?  2)  How were the ideas of the biblical "Eve" and the "Virgin Mary" related to the view of women during this period?  3)  In what ways was marriage a social and economic contract between families?  4)  What happened to women socially and economically upon the death of a husband?  5)  Why were both men and women preoccupied with their personal appearance?  6)  What was expected of women within the home?  7)  Based on this and the Isabella d'Este reading, how were d'Este's experiences different from that of the average woman in Florence?
