Language Arts 1 (Period 3) Assignments

You have three tasks to accomplish for homework tonight:

1. Write 2-3 sentences in response to the "Hypothesis One" question on the graphic organizer worksheet.

2. Read and annotate Documents C and D.

3. Fill out the graphic organizer for Documents C and D

All three of these assignments are due tomorrow--no exceptions!

Your Socratic Seminar for House on Mango Street is tomorrow! Please make sure that you are ready, so we can have an enlightening discussion =] You need to have your Socratic Seminar Prep Packet completely done and filled out. The more prepared you are, the better you will do during the discussion. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions! I have attached the prep. guide just in case you have misplaced it.

The vocab. ch. 20 quiz is tomorrow. Please don't forget to study! Flash cards and worksheet for vocab. 20 are also due tomorrow.

Write a paragraph response to one of the statements from the House on Mango Street anticipation guide. Due tomorrow! The anticipation guide is attached just in case you need it.

Please make sure that you are working on your study guide for the exam. These are the questions that will appear on the test on Thursday. Your study guide is due on Thursday before the test. You must complete all answers on a separate sheet of paper. If you need help with any of the questions, please come and see me after school on Wednesday. I have attached a link to the study guide for your convenience.

Homework tonight: Read and annotate pg. 46-52 and finish the section 3 study guide. Remember that for number 5 on your study guide, your paragraph must follow this format:
I. Topic Sentence
II. Evidence/Quote
III. Commentary/Argument (How does the evidence you provided prove your topic sentence?)
IV. Evidence/Quote
V. Commentary/Argument (How does the evidence you provided prove your topic sentence?)
VI. Concluding Sentence

Tonight's homework is the Clauses and Phrases handout that you received in class. Complete 1-13. Due tomorrow! I attached a copy just in case you misplaced yours.

Reminder: Vocab. Ch. 8 quiz tomorrow!

Three Items due tomorrow:

2. You also need to highlight and annotate the Background Essay in the DBQ packet (minimum 3 highlights and 3 comments).

3. Answer questions 1-7 about the Background Essay

Animal Farm Ch. 1 Study Guide

Complete your response paragraph for one of the topics we discussed in the Animal Farm Anticipation Guide. Due tomorrow at the beginning of class.

Due tomorrow: Find 1-2 quotes to use as evidence for your symbolism body paragraph and find 1-2 quotes to use for your imagery body paragraph.  We will be writing the essay in class tomorrow, so please make sure that you are prepared.
