2019-2020 AP Testing Information

Critical Updates from The College Board - 5-4-2020:

Exam Demo .              World Language Exams

The AP Exam Purchasing Deadline was March 13, 2020. Exams were only sold to students enrolled in corresponding AP or IB classes at VHS in the current year.

Due to the Coronavirus social distancing needs, all AP Exams will be administered online directly by The College Board. The exams have been shortened to 45 minute Free Response or DBQ type questions, including only topics that were covered prior to the March 13 school shutdown.  All information can be found here including the exam schedule and exam details for each subject:

The College Board has scheduled up to three exams per day from May 11 to May 22, 2020. With the exams being only 45 minutes, they will not consider it a conflict to have two or three exams in the same day. Since IB has suspended their exams for this year, IB students will not have any conflicts with AP exams.

Cancellation and Refunds
Given this new format, we HIGHLY ENCOURAGE all students who have purchased an exam to go ahead and take the exam. The exams are short and you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain.  If for some reason, you choose not to take the exam, you will be entitled to a refund for the full amount you paid. There is no cancellation or unused exam fee charged to the school. Refunds will be available from VHS after all AP exams are over, in early June. You do not need to notify anyone in advance that you have chosen not to take the exam, except maybe your parent and teachers.

Technology
The College Board has provided instructions (at the link above) regarding using your own technology to take the exams including laptop, desktop, tablet, Chromebook or even smart phone. Answers can even be hand written and a picture of your responses uploaded. If you need tech, you can borrow a Chromebook from VHS. Contact Mr. Herzfeld at cherzfeld@pylusd.org.

Accommodations
Any student who was granted a testing accommodation earlier this year through The College Board will have that accommodation applied to the exam by The College Board when the exam is administered.
