Please view the Student Handbook re: Community Service.
Listed below are current CS Opportunities

These are a few of the many places students can obtain Community Service hours:
1.   Schools:  Valencia, Valadez, Kramer, any elementary school not only in our district but any school.
2.   Churches
3.   Kids sports teams ie soccer, basketball, football, baseball.
4.   American Red Cross
5.   American Cancer Society
6.   American Heart Association
7.   Placentia Library, Yorba Linda Library, Sunkist Library
8.   Boys/Girls Club
9.   Mary's Kitchen
10.  Love Placentia
11.  Hospitals:  Convalescent, medical, clinics etc.
Just remember, does the location "help" the community?  Is the location non-profit?  Non profit isn't the main criteria but it certainly helps to qualify for Community Service.

If you are doing multiple days at the same venue ie church, you don't have to turn in a form at every month but rather after 6 months or when the time is finished.

COMMUNITY SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

Dear PYLUSD Community,

You may recall that last year we shared information regarding modifications made to the high school community service requirement as a result of conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of hours required for graduation has been modified according to graduating class to ensure adequate time for students to fulfill these requirements.

Here is a schedule of community service hour requirements for all comprehensive and alternative high school students according to graduating class:

Class of 2023 – 20 Community Service Hours Required

Class of 2024 – 30 Community Service Hours Required

Class of 2025 – 40 Community Service Hours Required

Class of 2026 – 40 Community Service Hours Required

Community Service Verification Forms must be filled out and submitted to your school’s Community Service Coordinator. The deadline for seniors to submit Community Service Verification Forms is June 1st.  Please contact your counselor with any questions.
