Mrs. Erika Esquivel, VHS Wellness Specialist

Tigers,

I look forward to the opportunity to provide all the support I can here at Valencia High. As this school's Wellness Specialist, my goal is to devote my time and effort into advocating for the mental health of our students. Through various interventions and evidence-based curriculum, I aim to aid in our students mental health and well-being and provide them with the appropriate skills and resources to overcome adversities.

A little bit about myself:

- Completed my bachelors degree at Cal State LA in Communication Disorders

- Completed my Masters degree at USC (Fight On!) in Social Work with a focus in school social work

I am located in the Counseling office. If you would like to access Wellness counseling, please contact your counselor for more information. Teachers, students, and guardians are welcomed to request Wellness counseling. I am so excited to be your Wellness Specialist, GO TIGERS!

Who would benefit from meeting with a Wellness Specialist?

Anyone! There is no level of misery one needs to be in order to talk to someone. I deal with many mental health-related concerns and students who may be struggling with or at-risk of the following would benefit from talking to me: stress or anxiety, grief and loss, thoughts of suicide, substance abuse, depression or feelings of sadness, issues with socialization, issues with family and/or peers, divorced parents, LGBTQ+ related concerns, or any other mental health concerns.
