Due:
Your whole department may work together, but you'll need to divide yourself into subgroups of 2-3 people. Also, Big Filowitz recommends putting things in your own words for discussion purposes, because two of you may be in the Pilot circle at the same time and you do not want to have the exact same answer. You also do not know what questions you will be asked, and therefore need to prepare for all of them. Big Filowitz will discuss the format of the Socratic Seminar Today. You will have today and tomorrow in class to prepare, then on Friday, the Seminar will commence.
Due:
DAY 1 - FOCUS FREE WRITE:
Reflect on your experience yesterday - how did you feel? There are questions on the Google doc below to help guide you, if you don't know what to write.
Respond on the attached doc and submit BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS TODAY! No late submissions. NONE.

I did this one on a Google Doc for you - but it took FOREVER, so I'll probably switch back to fillable PDFs after this. You can turn in either version.
Due:
We will have a quiz on these Chapters 1-3.
I'm attaching a pdf of the Student Workbook, however, even with a pdf filler, it's a bit difficult to work on digitally because of the funky formatting - that's why I made you hard copies. If you opt to do your work digitally, you can work directly on your copy of the pdf OR (and this is the preferred method) take a photo of each page completed and submit as attachments to this assignment. Both methods are fully acceptable.
You DO NOT have to do the "Writing Prompts" in the packet.

You can work in groups of 1-4 people - if you want to work alone, you totally can. No more than 4 and EACH person MUST submit a separate copy to Google Classroom - but you can have the same answers, since you worked together. Try to use your own words whenever possible.

As we watch the film, fill in the answers to the questions.

On his journey, Odysseus happened to bring his iPod – he had it with him as he traveled to the Land of the Lotus Eaters, listened to tunes as he fought Polyphemus, and scrolled through songs as he encountered Circe and Calypso.
But his because Odysseus’ iPod is ancient, it only held 10 songs - The question: What 10 songs did Odysseus have on his iPod (name of song & artist who sings/performs it) AND WRITE AT LEAST TWO SENTENCES FOR EACH SONG EXPLAINING WHY HE HAD THAT PARTICULAR SONG.

Due:
You DO NOT have to take notes on your own presentation - just indicate on the chart which topic your group did.
Due:
Each group has a separate instruction page that you can access by clicking the title of the topic on the attached chart. You will be submitting a peer-review sheet where you can anonymously report any group member who is not pulling their weight. You will have Monday and Tuesday in-class to work on the assignment, any additional work that is incomplete will need to be finished on your own time. Select a group leader - that person will receive extra credit if everyone does their job. We will present on Wednesday, Thursday, and if needed, finish on Friday, but all assignments are DUE at the start of class on Wednesday.
In addition to the lesson your group will teach, remember:
You EACH need to submit a copy of your presentation (slides) on Google Classroom.
Filowitz has a microphone available if you are soft-spoken, it's fun to use :)
EVERY GROUP MEMBER NEEDS TO HAVE A SPEAKING PART - ideally, AT LEAST one-slide per member.
Remember, MINIMAL text on your slides - make the presentation add to what you're saying, DO NOT just read text on a slide - if you're bored reading it, we're bored watching it. Engage us!
You will have a separate notes assignment where you will take notes on the other group presentations.
You will have a separate Google Form to submit as an Engagement assignment where you will give feedback on your peers to make sure everyone is contributing.
