Course Description

Parents/Guardians and Students,
 
I am pleased to have your student enrolled in my class this year. My goal is to help each student achieve his/her own potential in this course.
This course is designed to give students a solid understanding of the basic Government and Economics principles needed to become successful in our current political world today. Throughout the class, I will emphasize the practical applications of this subject and how it relates to their daily lives.
 
Grading System:
Students will be graded on the following:
 Class work
 Participation
 Homework
 Assessments
 
Teaching Methods:
This is a Special Education classroom. Your student will be provided with small-group instruction and one-to-one assistance as needed. All materials will be presented in multiple modalities (Visual, Verbal, and Kinesthetic as applicable) to assure that your student will receive it in his/her learning style. I will also be available for before school tutoring by appointment or daily during lunch and break.
 
Parent Participation:
Parents are a vital part of their student’s academic success. Here is how you can help:
 Get your child to school unless they are ill.
 Make sure your child got plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast
 Monitor homework and talk with your child regularly about school.
 
Classroom Rules:
 Proper courtesy must be shown to fellow students & staff.
 Vulgarity is not permitted in the classroom.
 NO FOOD OR DRINKS (except water) IN THE CLASSROOM.
 Obey all school rules.
 
Class Expectations:
 Be in your seats and prepared to work when the bell rings.
 Stay on-task and follow directions.
 Show respect for other in the room.
 Follow school rules and policies
 Complete/Turn in assignments as assigned
 Work Quietly in order not to disturb others.
 Make up all missing assignments
 
Grading Policy:
Grades will be based on the following:
 Regular attendance
 Appropriate behavior
 Effective use of time
 
Grading Scale:
A = 90% - 100%
B = 80% - 89%
C = 70% - 79%
D = 60% - 69%
F = 0% - 59%
