Course Description


Algebra I
Algebra I is the beginning of the series of full year college preparatory mathematical courses.  Algebra I guides students through the process of developing their mathematical abilities and understanding of elementary algebra.
 
Material:  Each student must bring pencil or pen, notebook of previous assignments, and adequate paper to class each day.
 
Student Evaluation: m The following scale may be used as a general guideline to convert grades from percent to letter grades.
A= 100%-90%
B=   89%-80%
C=   79%-68%
D=   67%-58%
F=   57%- 0%
 
Points Values:  Test are 100 points
                        Quizzes are 25 points
                        Notebook is 100 points
                        Homework is 2 points daily
 
Notebook:  Each student will keep a notebook.  Notebook is equivalent to one test grade.  The more complete the better the grade.  Notebook will include class lecture examples and any notes that I may express as important, such as formulas and definitions.  Notebook will aso include any class work problems assigned in class.
Notebooks may also be used when a student is taking a chapter test.
 
Homework:  Homework will be assigned daily (weekends included).  We will review homework each day.  Homework problems will be assigned that will help you in preparing for chapter tests and quizzes.
 
Attendance:  Attendance is extremely important.  If absent it is your responsibility to get class notes and to make up homework.
