Grades
Students are responsible for the concepts taught in lectures, lab experiments, and the textbook. Grades will be based on classwork, homework and labs (35%), tests and quizzes (40%), and a cumulative final exam each semester(25%).
Some extra credit opportunities will be available each semester: no more than 1-2% of grade. You can also earn participation points which count as extra credit and help determine your citizenship grade.
Grading Scale:
A = 90% - 100% B = 80% - 89% C = 70% - 79% D = 69% - 60%
Additional Grading Information:
- Grades may be rounded up based on previous class work.
- Late work will be accepted for ½ points. 1 day only, grade = F
- Missed work, quizzes & tests must be completed within 1 week after absence or you will receive no grade.
- Academic Dishonesty: Cheating will be handled according to school policy: Zero on assignment, referral, and call home.
Attendance
Tardy policy: 3 free tardies 4th & 5th tardies = classroom detention, 6th & 7th tardies = referral and call home.
After absence: look in the Absent Binder when you return, talk to other students, then get make up work from the teacher.
In some instances I may be able to email or give you an assignment if you are sick or know of an absence in advance.
This is especially important for those who are involved in extra curricular activities that cause frequent absence from class.
These activities include: sports, band, choir, dance, etc.
