Course Description
Marketing | Business Law - One Semester Each
Marketing: This course teaches the four basic marketing principals (Product, Price, Place, Promotion), along with concepts and techniques for understanding brand and product marketing, advertising and predicting consumer behavior. There is an emphasis on video production, social media marketing and current marketing trends in this fast-paced digital age. Additional projects involve the research of current marketing tools, data-mining, SWOT analysis and business planning.
Business Law: This course focuses on basic legal concepts including: avoiding and resolving disputes, the function of contracts, managing intellectual property, legal vocabulary, forms of business organization, taxes and accounting.
Both courses are recommended for those students interested in becoming business majors in college, students with entreprenurial goals and general students who want to become more informed consumers.

Grading Procedures:
The grading scale is based on points. Points are earned by completing assigned work and by taking tests and/or quizzes. The points earned by a student are divided by the total number of points possible. The percentage scale used is:
90-100%=A
80-89%=B
70-79%=C
60-69%=D
Below 60% is not a passing grade.
Points are awarded as follows:
Projects- 100 points
Tests & Quizzes- 25-50 points
Homework- 5 points
Homework policy: Homework may be assigned as necessary to complete projects outside of class, complete reading assignments and/or to complete research projects.
If you are absent: If you are absent for an assignment you will have the amount of days you were absent to make up the work without a penalty.
Make-ups: If you are absent the day a project, quiz or test is due you must make it up on your own time. See me to make and appointment. If you return from an illness on the day of a test you will be responsible for taking that test unless you missed more than 2 days.
