"I was 11 when I first met Coach Deacon while he was recruiting my brother Derek," Ricky Castillo told Golfweek. "I always knew I would end up playing for him someday."

Ricky Castillo, now 14 and a freshman at Valencia High School in Placentia, Calif., officially gave his verbal commitment to Deacon and the Gators on Jan. 24.

Castillo is ranked 131st overall by Golfweek and fifth in the Class of 2019. He picked the Gators over USC. He also took visits to UNLV, where his brother Derek will attend beginning next fall, and Arizona State.

"Though I couldn't have gone wrong with any of the schools, Florida was clearly the best fit for me," Castillo said.

Castillo's accomplishments include winning the 2015 AJGA BBCN Bank Junior All-Star, one of his eight career AJGA top-15 finishes, and being the youngest qualifier at the 2015 U.S. Amateur.

This is the second recruit younger than 15 years old to commit to the Gators in the last three months
