IB Mathematics SL/HLY1/AICE
Welcome to Math IB Math SL/HLY1/AICE! We follow the IB Math Analysis and Approaches curriculum. As recommended by IB for HL, the first year is taught in conjunction with the SL. Second year HL students take IB Math HLY2/AP Calculus BC. There is no AP course for the first year (IBSL/HLY1). We do not cover the curriculum for AP Calculus AB in this class. Our IBSL/HLY1 is also taught in conjunction with the AICE Cambridge math course/curriculum.
This year you will need a TI-84 (or 84-plus, 84-silver, 84-Python, LCD screens are great) graphing calculator. It helps to have the calculator when you start school. Our text and my in-class instructions follow this model of calculator (which will make it a lot easier!). A TI-83 will also work.
**TI-NSPIRE IS NOT ALLOWED FOR THE CLASS OR IB**
The TI-84 calculator costs approximately $100—however, in July and August many stores will be running sales on the calculators. It is a good time to purchase the calculator and then you’ll be set to go in September. Please feel free to contact me with any questions: [email protected]
