Enhancing Education Program (Classroom grants)

 

The Enhancing Education Program annually awards grants up to $250. Funds are awarded to teachers for use within the classroom to purchase items or supplies that will directly impact the learning experience for a majority of students. Past award recipients utilized funds to purchase equipment, software, books, DVDs, and teaching materials.

 

In 2015-2016, 7 grants were awarded for use in the following classes:

 

Lauren Shultz (Art) – ceramic molds for use in the visual arts program

Grace Stanton (Language Arts) – Anne Frank Exhibit

David Chung (Language Arts) – HD wireless document camera

Sally Pierotti (Social Science) – AP Euro review books

Hannah Young (Special Ed) – Chromebook for special education classroom

William Truong (Science) – blood pressure cuffs for physiology unit

Judy Yen (Psychology) – supplies for biology unit in AP Psychology

Eligibility Criteria and Program Information

  • All teacher applicants must be current PTSA members.
  • Application deadline is October 31, 2016.


Classroom awards up to $250 per recipient; the total number of awards will be dependent upon available funding. Recipients will be announced in November.

Recipients will be asked to provide a brief statement on how you were able to implement the enhancements with your students.

Prior recipients - If you applied and received an enhancement grant in 2015-2016, we respectfully request that you recuse yourself this year to give others the opportunity to benefit from this program. For those who received awards in 2014-2015, you are invited to apply in the current round.  

Continuing Education Scholarship – for credentialed teachers and counselors.  
California State PTA offers a $500 Continuing Education scholarship for credentialed teachers and counselors. The application deadline is Monday, October 17. More info can be found at http://capta.org/programs-events/scholarships/continuing-education/.

Student Scholarships – PTSA Student membership required

**Graduating Seniors must have joined PTSA as a student member by the end of First Semester (January 26, 2017) in order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship.

 

  • Graduating seniors are invited to apply for a Valencia PTSA scholarship (awards range from $100 - $500).
  • Applicants need only have a 2.0 unweighted total GPA or higher.
  • Applications are available in February/March and award recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards assembly in May.
